Overcoming Fear, Taking Back Power: Trinational Workers Toolkit

Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung - New York

After a nine month process that began with the Overcoming Fear: Creating a Trinational Workers Toolkit gathering at UE 506 in Erie, Pennsylvania on November 14 and 15, 2019, Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, along with all of our partners who dedicated time and resources to this project, are proud to release our completed Trinational Workers Toolkit. This toolkit is geared toward fostering greater international solidarity to overcome reactionary and right wing rhetoric around trade, migration, and climate.

This trinational gathering and the ensuing toolkit was the result of 40+ trade unionists, activists, movement allies, and policy practitioners from across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. These activists then met biweekly for the next nine months, culminating in this toolkit. Today’s release is in English, Spanish, and French, the three languages represented by participants, highlighting the unity showcased by this project.

By highlighting the dichotomy between what is offered currently and what is needed, we hope this toolkit can help progressives in each country develop proactive messages on these issues. Additionally, with the map, we are illuminating the interconnectedness of these topics and showcasing how they cannot be siloed and separated.

We want to thank all the participants, the convening parties, the translators, and the designers for their fantastic work. Ultimately, this project is an example of coming together to foster solidarity across borders that we desperately need in the world. We hope that you enjoy this tool and find it useful in fostering greater international solidarity.
