On October 10, 2024, we met at the Ploughshares office in Washington, D.C. to explore the power of disarmament and its role in building a more just and peaceful world. This was the U.S. presentation of the Atlas of Disarmament, a publication by the Geneva Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung.
Panelists:
Jasmine Owens, a nuclear weapons abolitionist, writer, educator, organizer, and trained Death Doula. Rooting her advocacy and expertise in the Black Radical Tradition and Indigenous teachings, Jasmine seeks to transform the anti-nuclear movement to be more authentically just, intersectional, equitable, imaginative, and sustainable.
John Feffer, director of Foreign Policy In Focus and Global Just Transition at the Institute for Policy Studies and a contributor to the Atlas of Disarmament. He is the author of several books and numerous articles on topics including U.S. foreign policy, the Korean peninsula, and the politics of food.
Stefan Liebich, director of the New York Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung and contributor to the Atlas. He served as a member of the German Bundestag for 12 years, specializing in foreign policy. The event also included introductory remarks by the President of Ploughshares, Dr. Emma Belcher.
