Feminism for the 99%

Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung - New York

On 8 March 2016 the first transnational women’s strike movement began. Inspired by this development, “Feminism for the 99%” is an anti-capitalist, eco-socialist, and anti-racist project that seeks to liberate everybody and explains why capitalism is bad for women. Cinzia Arruzza talks about unpaid or unrecognized labor, the divide between liberal and working-class feminism, and how this is connected to gender, colonial, and racial oppression. Cinzia Arruzza is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the New School for Social Research. Together with Tithi Bhattacharya and Nancy Fraser, Cinzia Arruzza published the manifesto Feminism for the 99%.
