On April 29, 2025, RLS-NYC co-hosted a NPT Preparatory Committee side event along with International Peace Bureau, Gensuikyo, Campaign for Peace, Disarmament & Common Security, and Peace Action New York State. Speakers John Burroughs (Senior Analyst, Lawyers Committee on Nuclear Policy), Tsuchida Yayoi (Assistant Secretary-General, Gensuikyo – Japan Council against A & H Bombs) and Marco Marzo (Secretary-General of the Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials) addressed the need to build political pressure and offer models for preventing nuclear war and achieving a nuclear-free future.
